You can ride our SurRon e-dirt bikes in Dullstroom, Mpumalanga, within the Steenkampsberg Mountains. Our guided e-dirt bike safaris take you across private wilderness trails not accessible to the public.

Each adventure lasts between 1 and 3 hours, starting or ending in Dullstroom or starting and ending at the office in Verloren Valei – Depending on the length of the ride.

We keep our groups small — usually 2 minimum and 6 maximum riders. This ensures a personal, safe, and eco-friendly adventure experience.

Gear & Equipment

Can we bring our own riding gear?

Absolutely. While we provide all necessary basic gear, you are welcome to use your own helmet, gloves and other protective equipment if you prefer.

Petrol bikes are not allowed on our guided tours. Based on where we ride, permits & permission we only use our eco-friendly SurRon e-dirt bikes or your own e-Dirt Bikes on our tours and safaris. After your ride with us on our e-Dirt Bikes, we’ll happily share suggested off-road routes in the area for your own petrol bike.

However if you have an e-Dirt Bike you are welcome to join our tours and safaris at a reduced price. However the maximum number of 6 riders in a group can not be exceeded. Contact us for prices and bookings.

Our SurRon Ultra e-dirt bikes are equivalent in power to a 250cc–300cc dirt bike and our SurRon Lite B’s 125cc, with the added advantage of being quiet and eco-friendly.

Wear comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for riding and the season. We recommend long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes. We provide helmets, gloves, kidney belts, balaclavas, and backpacks.

Skill Level & Safety

Do I need a motorcycle license to join the e-dirt bike tours?

No motorcycle license is required, we ride on private property and in Nature Reserves – Not on public roads. Our guided e-dirt bike safaris and tours in South Africa are designed for riders with basic dirt bike or solid mountain biking skills with a good understanding of throttle and break usage.

Riders must be at least 16 years old and confident on a mountain bike or dirt bike. 16 to 18 year olds must be accompanied by a capable parent or guardian. Younger adventurers may join if they meet the skill requirements and are accompanied by a guardian.

Yes. Our dirt bike adventures in Mpumalanga are not extreme or high-speed. They’re guided at a safe pace, focusing on scenic exploration and wildlife encounters.

We trust riders to know their abilities. If you can ride a dirt bike or have solid mountain bike skills on uneven terrain and know how to use a throttle & break, you’ll be comfortable on our tours. If we see you are not capable at the start of the ride we will ask you to stop, take you back to the start. Your ride will be ended and no refund will be provided.

Riders must be able to handle uneven, rocky, and sometimes wet trails, including jeep tracks and single tracks.

All guides are trained in First Aid. We have plans to return riders to Dullstroom, from where ambulances can transfer to Nelspruit or Middelburg. We strongly recommend personal health or travel insurance.

Our 1-hour training rides are designed for guests who are new to dirt bikes or would like to build confidence before joining one of our guided Verloren Valei rides.

Training takes place in a controlled environment and focuses on the fundamentals of riding electric dirt bikes. This includes correct use of throttle and brakes, balance and body position, and maintaining control of the bike at low speeds.

Riders will also work on acceleration, deceleration and safe stopping, as well as basic techniques for navigating small obstacles and holding a consistent line.

The near-silent electric bikes are easy to ride and highly responsive, making them ideal for learning.

Most riders are surprised how quickly they gain confidence.

Each session is 1 hour, with guidance tailored to the individual rider’s pace and ability.

This is the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to learn to ride, or to feel fully comfortable before heading out into the Verloren Valei wilderness.

Please contact us by e-mail, WhatsApp, phone or in person to discuss this.
